How do you choose a sofa that fits your space?
The right sofa starts with the room, not the picture. This guide orders the decision into five steps — measuring, the access route, layout, use and upholstery — then lists what to send so we can review your request accurately.
Measure the wall and free floor area
Record measurements in centimetres; a simple hand sketch is enough.
- The length of the wall the sofa will sit against, and the adjoining wall if you are considering a corner.
- Positions of windows, doors, switches, air-conditioning units and curtains on those walls.
- The distance to fixed pieces opposite, such as a TV unit or dining table.
- The windowsill height if the sofa back will sit beneath it.
Check the route into the room
A piece that fits the room may not pass through the door. Measuring here prevents surprises on delivery day.
- The width and height of every door on the way, including the building entrance and lift.
- The internal depth of the lift, and the width of any stairs and their turns.
- Narrow corridors or tight corners before reaching the room.
- A photo of each tight point helps us more than a written description.
Choose the layout: straight, corner or lounge
Layout decides how people move through the room, not only how many seats you get.
- Straight: flexible to arrange and easier to move; suits a single wall or a room you rearrange.
- Corner: uses the room corner and gathers seating on one side, but you must fix its direction (left or right) as seen from the front.
- Lounge: sofas and chairs facing each other around a table; suits majlis and reception rooms and needs more open floor in the middle.
- Keep a clear walkway between the sofa, doors and other furniture, and try the layout in the room planner before confirming.
Define how it will be used
The key question: who sits here, how often, and for what?
- Daily family seating and TV, or receiving guests at set times?
- Are there children or pets? This affects the upholstery and its colour.
- Do you prefer a deep, relaxed seat or a more upright one? Mention it in your request.
- Do you need extra back cushions, scatter cushions or a separable section?
Choose the upholstery and plan its care
Colour on screen differs from fabric in your room's light, so we recommend a sample before confirming.
- Choose by use: daily seating and children call for an easier-care fabric than a reception piece.
- Light colours show marks sooner; mid tones and textured weaves are more forgiving day to day.
- Ask how the chosen fabric should be cleaned before confirming, and follow its care guidance.
- Look at the sample in daylight and evening light in the room itself.
What to send with your quote request
The clearer the request, the more accurate the review.
- Wall measurement(s) in centimetres.
- Door, lift and stair measurements along the access route.
- The layout you want, and the corner direction if any.
- Photos of the room from several angles, plus a reference image you like if you have one.
- How it will be used, and your preferred colour, fabric or sample reference.

Common questions
Should I choose a straight or corner sofa?
If two adjoining walls are free without blocking a walkway or door, a corner gathers seating. If you rearrange the room or want flexibility, a straight sofa is easier.
How do I tell the corner direction?
Stand facing where the sofa will go: the side where the second long section extends is the corner direction. Note it in your request with a photo.
Can I see the fabric before confirming?
Yes. You can request samples from the samples page and compare them in your room before confirming the colour.
Is the room-planner preview final?
No. The preview is illustrative to help with proportions and layout. Dimensions and materials are reviewed with you before quotation and approval.
